Biography:
Dr. Lurie is a clinical
neuropsychologist who received her undergraduate training in Johannesburg,
South Africa. She relocated to the United States in 1994 and obtained her MA
from Pepperdine University in 1996. Dr. Lurie went on to complete her Psy.D. in
clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in San
Diego, California in 1999. Research for her dissertation was conducted at the
Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and involved school reintegration
programs for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Dr. Lurie’s
pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training includes both clinical and
neuropsychological settings. She is a member of the American Psychological
Association, the Texas Psychological Association, the National Academy of
Neuropsychology, and the International Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Lurie
was board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology in 2009.
Dr. Lurie has been in
private practice since 2003 providing neuropsychological assessment of the
cognitive and behavioral effects of neurologic disorders, including autism
spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, atypical developmental delays, ADHD,
traumatic brain injury, and behavioral and emotional disorders. Dr. Lurie
typically assesses children from the ages of 3-21. She also provides
consultation to parents with children younger than age 3. Dr. Lurie provides
further consultation to teachers regarding the classroom management of
neurocognitive and psychiatric disorders. Her presentations include topics on
the use of neuropsychological assessments in differential diagnosis,
understanding executive functioning deficits, understanding pervasive
developmental disorders, differentiating between ADHD and bipolar disorder in
children, and creating appropriate classroom interventions for children with a
variety of special needs.
